APA League FAQ's
When is league each week?
League at The Corner Pocket starts at 6pm Monday and Thursday nights. Players can come in at 5pm to practice on their tables, if they choose to do so, at no extra cost for table time.
What is the time commitment?
There are 3 sessions of league each year. Sessions run for 4 months each. Each week, league nights take about three hours to complete. Players can practice on their own throughout the week.
What all am I expected to do?
Five of the eight players on each team compete weekly. Other players may be given the week off or might be asked to still come in to help score other matches. Players can work with their team captain if they have any conflicts.
What is the cost?
To join the APA, there is a $30 membership fee annually with a weekly due of $10 when you compete.
What skill level do you have to be to join?
Teams are looking for players of all skill levels to join their team. Because this is the American Poolplayers Association, the goal of the league is for you to meet people, have fun and play pool. It uses The Equalizer handicap system to determine the amount of games a player has to win in order to win the match. It allows a novice to win less games than a more-skilled opponent to win a match.
Are there other opportunities to practice or compete at The Corner Pocket?
APA Players receive free pool time on Sundays with the purchase of an entrée, so they are able to practice if they choose. When APA is not in session, The Corner Pocket offers $5 pool nights to APA players on Mondays and Thursdays so players can keep within their routine of playing weekly.
Some APA players organize weekly tournaments on their own to be played at 1:30pm during the week. If you are interested in getting more on those tournaments, please ask your team captain.
